God's Word will stand forever.

Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withers, and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever."

Twenty-five years ago our home was one of three in our county that was flooded. The water was chest-deep in the backyard when my husband waded through to turn off the gas. I could visualize what this might look like on the evening news.

After the water receded, we began the long, slow process of cleaning our home and determining what had been ruined. Compared to that of the other two homes in the county, our loss was small. A few items, such as the stuffed dog my brother gave me before he died, were irreplaceable and their loss brought sadness.

One discovery, in the midst of all of the mess, surprised us. There on the floor lay a perfectly dry Bible. It was a little thing, but the symbolism was great. God was with us even in the flood.
